An early morning departure traveling northeast finds our first stop (after a morning break) at K & K Gardens which is in its 20th year in Hawkeye, Iowa which has display gardens as well as retail space. Our program here will be “Basic Pond Pointers”.  A quick stop at Monona, Iowa to pick up Subway and then cruising onto Richland Center, WI to Oak Shade Greenhouse which offers 3 greenhouses. Our next stop is at Woodland Valley Farms in La Valle, WI before departing for Lyndon Station, WI for Flowerbuds Greenhouse where Jerry will present a short program on “Unusual Annuals”.  All aboard for a short ride to the Wisconsin Dells for a relaxing evening meal at Sarento’s Italian Restaurant where everyone will have a choice of three main entrees with house salad & bread sticks complete with a variety of desserts! Our evening accommodations await us at  AmericInn Lodge & Suites.

Rise & shine! We have a full day of greenhouses, garden art and gift shops to check out! After our breakfast at the hotel we visit Links Greenhouse Farm at Portage, WI for a short program on “Container Plantings”.  Traveling onto Fall River, WI we visit Lost Lake Acres Greenhouse where a program will be shared entitled “Unique Hanging Baskets”. Traveling down the road to DeForest, WI the folks at Norske Nook welcome our group for lunch where pie is always a must! After lunch we visit Country Bloomers Greenhouse for a program on “Bloomer’s History” for a very unique story about the business.

Our friends at Schonheit Gardens remember us coming in the past and welcome us back to their greenhouse!  Last year when we talked about the area that we would visit in 2016 everyone asked to visit this friendly, clean greenhouse! We then travel to Cottage Grove, WI to America’s Best Flowers which is the largest grower in the Madison area.  Everyone will be learning more about herbs as we make our hands on project which will be a herb garden. They offer between 60 – 70 types of herbs in the greenhouse.  A pizza party is next on the agenda at Papa Jimmy’s Pizzeria in Cottage Grove before a restful night sleep at AmericInn Madison/South.

Day Three:

Kopke's Colorful Bloomers

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we depart for a return visit to America’s Best Flowers as so much more awaits our group that we didn’t get to explore the night before! We then travel to a family owned business at Oregon, WI to Kopke’s Greenhouse before traveling onto New Glarus, WI which is known to be “America’s Little Switzerland” for lunch at the New Glarus Hotel. New Glarus Bakery This building dates back to 1853 and the dining room was once a opera house before being converted to a Swiss Yodel Club.  Maybe a sweet treat to eat for the ride home at the New Glarus Bakery? One more greenhouse stop which will be at Brenda’s Blumenladen before making our journey back to Newton with great memories of our “Gardens, Greenhouse & Gifts” trip for 2016!  On  the way back home a decision will be made as to where our trip goes in 2017 – so be thinking.
