Day 1 – Sunday, December 29, 2013
Flight to California
Transfer this morning from Newton to the Des Moines Airport for your flight to California and the start of the Rose Parade Extravaganza. You will arrive at the John Wayne/Orange
County Airport where you will be met by a local host who will arrange for your transfer to the hotel in Long Beach. The waterfront Hyatt Regency Hotel will be your home for the
next five nights. After checking in and getting acquainted with your surroundings, you will be treated to a Welcome Dinner at the hotel. (D)
Day 2 – Monday, December 30, 2013
Disneyland, San Diego, Hollywood
Start the day with a Full American Breakfast at the hotel with a choice of one of the following: admission to Disneyland, A Day Trip to San Diego including the City Trolley Tour or a Hollywood City Tour and a look at the Float Decorating process
as local residents put the final touches on those magnificent floats for the parade. A local host will be on hand to assist you with your choices. The evening is at your leisure. (B)
Day 3 – Tuesday, December 31, 2013
Touring Choices, New Year’s Eve Party
Another Full American Breakfast Buffet is served for you at the hotel before another day of fun in sunny California. Your choices for touring today include Admission to and the Tram
Tour of Universal Studios, a Roundtrip Ferry to experience Catalina Island or a VIP behind-the-scenes Tram Tour of Warner Bros. Studios and Admission to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Museum. If you choose the Reagan Library option, lunch will be included. The cost of one of these is included in your tour and a local host will assist you with your choices. Tonight you are invited to a New Year’s Eve Party at the hotel with dining, dancing, party favors and casino fun. It will be a great way to ring in 2014. (B,D)
Day 4 – Wednesday, January 1, 2014
Tournament of Roses Parade
You will depart the hotel early this morning in anticipation of the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. A Boxed Breakfast will be provided for you as you travel to the parade
site. You have reserved grandstand seats for the 125th edition of this annual event and will be provided with a seat cushion and souvenir program to take home with you. Watch the
unbelievable array of floats and bands pass by before returning to the hotel for a Champagne Brunch. The remainder of the afternoon and evening will be at your leisure. (BB,BR)
Day 5 – Thursday, January 2, 2014
Showcase of Floats
Rise and shine for yet another Full American Breakfast Buffet at the Hotel. Your final full day in California will begin with a viewing of many of the Rose Parade Floats. Get an up-close look at these magnificent creations. Lunch today will be included at Lawry’s Prime Rib restaurant in Beverly Hills. You will have the afternoon and evening to take in some last minute sightseeing or just relax and enjoy the amenities of the hotel, maybe take a walk or do some shopping nearby. (B,L)
Day 6 – Friday, January 3, 2014
Departure for Home
Today we prepare to leave California, but first you can enjoy another of those great Full American Breakfast Buffets at the Hotel. You then transfer to the John Wayne/Orange County Airport for the flight home. Arrival in Des Moines will be later this afternoon followed by the transfer back to Newton. (B)
