What makes an awesome Saturday? How about wine tastings, great food, meeting new friends and riding along relaxing watching the wonderful Iowa landscape go by awaiting the next tasting!!
We will depart Newton and travel to Sully to the Van Wijk Winery to begin our tasting experience! This family welcomes everyone to the new winery that started out as a church and is now changed to a masterpiece by the Van Wijk’s! This boutique winery currently produces 18 different wines and looks forward to sharing their passion of wine with you! Their slogan is “Let’s Create Some Fun Together!” Any purchases made will be labeled and boxed for pickup when we return for our evening meal & entertainment!
Our next stop is at Fireside Winery in Marengo where an Italian lunch awaits us before tasting their delicious wines. This winery was born from a desire to embrace the “life is too short” philosophy, a long-term passion for wine and to pass on the farm heritage to their children. The next wine tasting will be in LeClaire at Wide River Winery which takes its name from the Mississippi River as its widest part that flows below their vineyards by Clinton. They offer an array of award-winning wine that ranges from dry to sweet and everything in between.
Sit back and enjoy the ride back to Van Wijk Winery for an Italian style meal where wine may be purchased while enjoying the meal. Comedy entertainment provided by Lynnville Sully High School Drama Club will conclude our evening. Our coach will then bring us back to Newton with fond memories of our “Italia Date”!
