Our second garden trip we are headed south to Vanden Berg Family Greenhouse by Lovilla, IA and Ogle’s Greenhouse & Garden Center in Albia, lunch at Muddy Dog Market & Grill in Unionville. We then visit two Amish greenhouses followed by an evening meal at the Red Shed in Bloomfield before we head back to Newton. (LIMIT OF 25 GARDENERS PER TRIP DUE TO TRAILER CAPACITY).
We will make a stop at McDonald’s in Knoxville before arriving at Vanden Berg Family Greenhouse by Lovilla, IA. This is truly a family business with kids and a mother-in-law helping with the planting & selling as they increase their business. They offer trees, shrubs, vegetable plants, annuals, perennials and garden art. Our second stop will be at Ogle’s Greenhouse & Garden Center in Albia which offers a newly remodeled show room with gifts, annuals, vegetables, perennials along with houseplants. A hot meal greets us at Muddy Dog Market & Grill with cheesecake for dessert! We need our stamina up as we have two more greenhouses to visit! Our next visits will be to Amish Greenhouses which are Gingerich Greenhouse & Golden Acres Greenhouse which are two larger greenhouses in the area. They offer a variety of plants, trees, vegetables & garden art. After shopping at these greenhouses our gardeners will make a stop at the Red Shed! The Shed will offer a choice of two sandwiches, potato salad & pie with ice cream & a drink! Oh, they also offer homemade chocolates for a snack on the way home! (Lunch & dinner included on this trip).
Just a reminder that a truck & trailer will be accompanying our group to house your purchases (not responsible for loss of plants or breakage of items purchased.) Each item must be labeled with a return address label for verification when unloading the trailer – so bring plenty of labels! Seriously, bring lots of labels!!!
