Ride – don’t drive! Join JH Travel on Monday, June 4th as our first stop will be in Newton at the brand new quilt shop owned by Newton native Laura Jochems. She named her store Crazy Red Head Quilting and will be opening at the end of May. A former church now housing a quilt shop – come to explore! A muffin & coffee will be ready as we depart and head north. Our second stop will be at Hen & Chicks Studio in Conrad which has just recently opened. Our travels take us to Iowa Falls to the Iowa Falls Sewing Machine Co and then onto The Crazy to Quilt Shop in Cedar Falls. A box lunch (included) will be delivered to the motor coach to be eaten along the way to Jesup to Merry’s Stitchins. The Quiltmaker’s Shoppe in Manchester will be next to welcome quilt travelers along with a pizza (included) party aboard our motor coach before departing Manchester. Connie’s Quilt Shop & The Cottage Rose in Marion is next on our itinerary as our group will be divided between the two stores. Our final stop is in Cedar Rapids at Pine Needles Sewing Center before we board our coach for the return trip back to Newton.
Please bring along a quilt block or something to show other quilters what you are currently working on. It is fun to share your projects! Along with your project each quilt shop will be giving out a 6” quilt block to complete a Barn Block quilt so a new project can begin!
Don’t wait too long to sign up for this All Iowa Shop Hop tour! A short synopsis for each of the nine stores will be given on the June 4th. Most of the quilt shops on this tour will be providing a short program on a quilting or sewing project during our visit. Be sure to invite your friends or quilt group members to come along! Bring some coins, but no funny money like fat quarters or penny squares!
