JH Travel has a wonderful day planned with brunch, a style show, a showing of a person’s creativity, lunch, free time (retail therapy) along with an evening meal at a very special place!
Our day begins with brunch at Miss Spenser’s Special Teas in New Virginia which was created out of love for England to offer a beautiful, charming English cottage tea affair. After a relaxing meal we will travel to Urbandale for a leisurely style show given by The Hall Tree. This is a “best kept secret” women’s clothing specialty boutique which also carries handbags, gift items, scarves and jewelry! Our lunch awaits us at a completely renovated main street building that houses Timeless Treasures Tea Room in Exira. As we step foot into the tea room your eyes will behold wonder at the beautifully done hardwood floors-this part of the tour is a person’s creativity! The craftsmanship is beautiful! We will then travel to Atlantic Iowa for some free time before departing for the Gathering Barn at the Henry A Wallace Country Life Center in Orient, Iowa. A program entitled “Hearts and Homes” is woman’s history that comes alive through the pages of the Wallaces Farmer magazine in this look at rural life 100 years ago. Ladies will be amazed at these farm wives accomplishments – in their day-to-day caring for their families, their social activities and their interests. Our evening meal is centered around the fresh, organic produce grown in the four acre on-site garden and orchard.
