Join JH Travel on a relaxing spring weekend getaway to enjoy wine, food, accommodations at The DeSoto House Hotel and the opportunity to meet new friends!
Looking forward to having you join JH Travel for a wonderful wine weekend getaway traveling to Illinois & Wisconsin!
We will begin by boarding a Hawkeye Stages motor coach and traveling onto Illinois with a morning snack along the way! Forget about your worries as we visit “Fergedaboutit Vineyard & Winery” in Hanover, IL for wine tasting along with samples of wine freezes and wine drizzle. Moving onto to Rocky Waters Vineyard & Winery which was named by a contest amongst grandchildren also in Hanover, IL where a lunch will be provided with wine tasting. We travel onto Galena, IL for some retail therapy or perhaps to enjoy a pre-scheduled massage (if you are interested in this please contact me for information). Board the coach late afternoon for a visit to the Barrel Head Winery for a little fun with the owner during the wine tasting. Our evening meal is scheduled at the Timmerman’s Supper Club in East Dubuque with three choices being offered as in: chicken cordon bleu with rice or grilled salmon with potato or 10 oz rib eye steak with potato – each meal will be served with salad, rolls, non-alcoholic drink and dessert. (Your evening meal choice needs to be given at the time of the reservation). And, back to hotel for a night of peaceful rest!
The next morning you will be a guest at Courtyard Restaurant located in The DeSoto House Hotel for Sunday Brunch before departing to begin our day. Our first winery is Stone Cliff Winery where the logo declares “Where Grand Wines and Grand Times are Made Daily” which is located in the historic Star Brewery building in Dubuque. Our second winery for the day is Bauer-Kearns Winery located outside of Platteville, WI where wine will be sampled along with cheese & chocolates. Traveling onto to Potosi, WI where the group will be divided with half going to lunch at Potosi Brewing Co where you may chose from several choices of main entrees and wine tasting at Whispering Bluffs Winery – located just across the street from the Potosi Brewing Co. which incidentally is home to the National Brewery & Museum. After lunch and wine tasting we travel to Kieler, WI for our last winery stop at Sinnipee Valley Vineyard & Winery for wine tasting & tour. It is now time to begin our journey back to Newton with a fast food stop (on your own) along the way with great memories of our annual “Wine Trail Weekend”!
Tour includes: motor coach transportation, overnight accommodations at The DeSoto House Hotel, 4 meals (1 brunch, two lunches and one dinner) & wine tastings at 7 wineries, 1 morning snack, all taxes and gratuities on the above mentioned attractions. And, all the fun along the way!
